Tea was firstly used in Europe En 17th. Century and three fourth of the total amount of tea imported by Europe, used to be supplied by China.
Gradually, due to reasons, the export of tea from China to Europe reduced to three per cent only. When China could not meet the demand for tea in European countries, they motivated Asian countries (India and Africa) to grow tea and gradually tea cultivation spread over. Today, tea is used as popular drink all over the world.
Tea cultivation is concentrated in three countries; Asia, Africa and South America. The countries which export tea to these countries include Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Kenya, Brazil and Argentina. Forty eight per cent of the total export of tea is imported by European countries and fourteen per cent by North America. Remainder 38 per cent of tea is imported by the rest of the countries of the world.
There are three big exporters of tea; India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh while fourth are Africa. Japan, China and Formosa are the important exporters of Green Tea while importers of green tea are Middle East countries.
