Q8. DISCUSS WORLD DISTRIBUTION OF MANGANESE.
STATE THE USE OF MANGANESE AND WHERE ARE ITS RESERVES FOUND IN THE WORLD? EXPLAIN.
Manganese adds power of resistance in iron. Ninety per cent of the total manganese produced in the world is used for cleaning iron ore. Manganese, in addition to iron industry, is also used in chemical industry.
Two third of total world production of manganese is contributed by Europe exclusively; manganese produced in Russia is obtained from Kyanori in Georgia and Nikopal in Ukraine. Apart from it, Youral and Kazekhistan are also important for mining of manganese.
India, Australia, China and Brazil also produce manganese. It is obtained in India from Balakot, Bhindari and Nagpure which are the areas in Madhya Predesh. Moreover, other manganese producing regions in India are Andhra Preciesh, Viziga Pattam and Bheem Singh in district Bihar.
Iron industry, no doubt, is highly developed in North West Europe but production of manganese is very limited and this is the reason that European countries import manganese from other countries. Gaboon is industrially backward but rich in manganese thereby she is the big exporter of manganese. Brazil, China and Russia import manganese in bulk.
