HOW DOES THE VEGETATION INFLUENCE THE ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES? DISCUSS.
“HUMAN ACTIVITIES AND THE VEGETATION ARE CLOSELY RELATED’. ASSESS THE VALIDITY OF THE STATEMENT.
Vegetation influences the human activities deeply. It can be realized by the fact that when the vegetation is changed, the natures of human activities are also changed simultaneously. In other words, the man changes his economic and social activities in the light of availability or non availability of vegetation. For instance, at the place situated on Equator have so thick and abundant vegetation that no human activity is possible to undertake nevertheless, fruits, rubber and wood is achieved from these regions.
Since cleaning the areas covered by thick vegetation is not easy, no other activities are possible to undertake here, it a patch of land is cleaned, and this act would be repeated constantly because the average growth of vegetation in these areas is from one to 3 feet a month. This is the reason that the activities related to transport, industry and agriculture are not possible.
Construction and fuel wood is abundantly available in such areas and ifl transferring the wood from one to other place, the fast flowing rivers play the crucial role. Insufficient transport facilities, different diseases, abundance of insects, shortage of medicines and food and other unfavorable factors are the great hurdles. The industries depending on wood achieved from Coniferous Forests, have fast developed because lumbering and transport facilities are available here. Heavy snowfall during winter season provides the facility for transport of wood from one to other place. Apart from it, thickly populated areas, surrounding these areas, use wood in the bulk quantity due to which this industry is fast developing.
The areas having moist and hot climate are suitable for grazing fields and agricultural activities. The plains covered by grass have become highly suitable for the cultivation of maize, wheat and other food grains due to low rainfall and fertile soil. As the grazing fields are easily available in these areas the people maintain the cattle herds.
Vegetation is not found in the desert areas nevertheless, thorny bushes are grown here. This is the reason that agricultural activities are not possible here but the gypsy tribes’ tame camel, sheep and goats.
