The first capital of Pakistan was the cosmopolitan city of Sindh Karachi which was shifted to Islamabad, a newly built city Islamabad in the Province of Punjab therefore, the present capital of Pakistan is Islamabad.
AREA OF PAKISTAN:
The total area of Pakistan is 786.09 sqr. Kilometers out of which approximately 475.884 sqr. Kilometers are comprised of North South and Western mountainous range. Province of Baluchistan is the biggest province in area. Moreover, the total area of Pakistan has been composed of the soils brought by River Indus and its tributaries.
Pakistan, administratively is divided into 4 parts (provinces). The biggest province is Baluchistan in area having its capital at Quetta. The second biggest province (but first according to the population) is Punjab with Lahore as its capital. The third province of Pakistan is Sindh with Karachi as capital and the fourth province is North West Frontier Province of Pakistan (NWFP) with Peshawar as its capital. Every province is divided in commissionaries and every commissionary is districts while every district is divided into Tahsil or Maza.
The detail of all the 4 provinces is given below:
1. PROVINCE OF BALUCHISTAN:
Province of Baluchistan is divided into 4 commissionaries and 16 districts. The commissioneries are Quetta, Kalat, Makran and Sibbi while the districts include Gawadar, Turbat, Zhob, Pishin, Quetta, Loralal, Chaghi, Kohlu, Sibbi, Kharan, Kalat, Nasirabad, Khuzdar, Lasbella and Panjgore.
2. PROVINCE OF PUNJAB:
Punjab comprises 7 commissioneries and 27 districts. The commissionerios are Lahore, Dera Ismail Khan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Surgodha, Gujranwala and Muttan. The districts of this province are Rawalpindi, Gujanwala, Gujrat Surgodha, Shaikhoopura, Jhang, Mianwali, Kusoor, Lahore, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Vehari, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffar Garh, Rahim Var Khan, Nagar, Bahawalpur, Layya, Khoshab, Bhakkar, Okara, Rajan Pur and Toba Tek Singh.
3. NORTH WEST FRONTIERS PROVINCE OF PAKISTAN:
NWFP has been divided into 4 commissioneries and 13 districts. The commissioneries are Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Mala Kund and Hazara while districts are Peshawar, Chitral, Mardan, Kohistan, Mansehra, Kalarn, Dera Ismail Khan, Dir, Bannu, Sawat, Kohat, Malakand and Abbotabad.
4. PROVINCE OF SINDH:
This province is divided into 3 commissioneries and 15 districts. As far as commissioneries, they are Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkhar while districts include Thatta, Dadu, Badin, Shikarpur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Tharparker, Jaccobabad, Sukkhar, Sangarh, Nawab Shah and Khair Pur.
In addition to the 4 province mentioned above, the administration of the western tribal areas is carried by the Federal Government of Pakistan due to which they are known as’ Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The administration of these areas has been assigned to 7 agencies including Bajore, South Waziristan, Mahmand, Orakzai and Northern Wazinstan Agencies.
