a. SOUTH AMERICA:
Sugar cane is cultivated in South America in the following regions:
Not only in South America but Brazil is the most important sugar cane growing country in the world. North East Coastal belt and Eastern plain slops are the important areas for sugar cane cultivation.
Sugar cane is cultivated in fifteen coastal valleys of Peru due to its Domat Soil, sufficient irrigation facilities, high temperature and bright sunshine.
In one province of Argentina (Tikomen) only the sugar cane is cultivated in such a large quantity that it could cater the need of the country.
b. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:
Extremely cool and hot seasons has concentrated sugar cane cultivation in a few areas where the conditions are favourable. For instance, the coastal belt of North Louisiana in the East of Texas and some areas of Florida. Hawaii, in fact, is the special areas of sugar cane cultivation in United States of America. Hawaii is the biggest sugar cane growing area because of extremely fertile volcanic soils. Moreover, wide and large markets of United States of America are available for the sugar cane grown here. Since the lad is fertile therefore, per hector productivity is also high.
Once the crop is grown, many crops could be taken from one crop. These constant crops are not less than a boon here because of extremely thin population. Although the high coast is incurred due to use of fertilizers, irrigation and machines but the sugar cane, production is included in the high profit crops because wide markets are available.
