DISCUSS THE MAIZE CULTIVATING REGIONS OF AMERICA.
Maize is being cultivated almost in all the countries of the world for the last 400 years but it is cultivated in America on very large scale. America, with reference to maize cultivation, is divided into two areas; North America and South America.
a. NORTH AMERICA:
Canada and Mexico are the most important maize producing regions in United States of America. United States of America, amongst maize producing countries, is on top where 40 per cent of total area under maize cultivation and 50 per cent of the total world maize production is concentrated because America has been using machines in the agricultural sector for the last 36 years. Fourteen per cent per year increase in the production of maize has been recorded. The maize production zone is starched from Pembraska to Ohio in United States of America. The states of Indiana, Aswa and Allonois are famous for maize production. A small quantity of maize produced in Rian is used as human food because 90 percent product is used as cattle feed.
Maize is cultivated in the state of Ontario (Canada) in North America. Mexico is the important maize producing region where maize is the source of food almost for entire population. Mexico, as maize cultivator, is at number 5 at global level. The cattle are raised kept on maize in this region due to which they gain enormous weight and are used for meet purposes.
b. SOUTH AMERICA:
Argentine and Brazil are the two important maize producing regions in South America. Maize, although is cultivated in many areas in South America but its grade is low as compared to maize produced in Brazil and Argentine.
Argentine, with reference to rice production, was the third big country after the Second World War but the situation has now been changed. Maize cultivation, due to fertile soil, is concentrated in the north of Yamyaz in Argentine. Brazil and Argentine are leading the world in maize cultivation.
Maize is cultivated in West and South in Brazil where maize is the source of food both for people and cattle. The important maize producing states of Brazil are Dosal, Krandll, Yansa, Sigrais and Saoyelo.
