If the industrial history is glanced at, it is revealed that the industries, in the initial period of industrial development, established in the regions where coal mines were there. Coal was the only source of energy in the beginning of scientific development and industrial revolution. Most of the coal producing countries used to utilize their coal in the local industries. Consequently, surplus coal was not available to export.
Britain, during 19th. century, was monopolizing the export of coal at global level but gradually and particularly after the World War Second, export of coal from Britain decreased because the major part of the coal mined from Britain began to be used in the local industry.
The coal exporting countries include Poland,Russia,United States of America, United South Africa, China,West Germany,India and Australia.
The countries which import coal are Italy, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Japan, Canada, Brazil and Argentine.
