DETERMINANTS OF THE CLIMATE OF A PARTICULAR COUNTRY

Q11. EXPLAIN THE DETERMINANTS OF THE CLIMATE OF A PARTICULAR COUNTRY.
OR
WHICH, IN YOUR OPINION, MAY BE THE CONSTITUENTS OF THE CLIMATE OF A COUNTRY? DISCUSS.
OR
HIGHLIGHT THE GEOGRAPHICAL FACTORS WITH WHICH THE CLIMATE OF A COUNTRY IS FORMED.

ANSWER:
The following geographical factors play decisive role in the determination of climate of a country:

1. TEMPERATURE:

The sun provides temperature to the earth and our earth receives temperature through the function of radiation and the same is termed as temperature’. The temperature of the different countries of the world is different because the following factors play important role in making the temperature different:

a. HEIGHT FROM SURFACE OF SEA:
Our earth does not receive temperature directly from the sun but it received indirectly, in other words, the sea receives the temperature directly from the sun and it distributes to the environment. This is the reason that the countries which are lower than or at the sea level, have the high temperature as compared to the places which are located above the sea level.

b. DISTANCE FROM THE SEA:
The principle of the distribution of temperature from water and earth is that the land accepts the temperature soon than water. Although the temperature of ocean, during summer season, is Lowe than that on land but the cold sea breeze lower down the temperature of land. This is the reason that the temperature of the place would be low which are located near to the sea as compared to the places located far from the ocean. Water, as compared to ‘and, cools down late due to which the ocean remains warm than the land during the winter season. The places which are near to the sea have high temperature as compared to the places located far from the sea.

c. DISTANCE FROM THE EQUATOR:
The places where sun rays fall vertically for the whole of the year are situated on Equator. In other words, the temperature remains extremely high. If the direction moves either to North or South, the temperature gradually will be lower down as the distance from Equator would increase. The places or the regions which are near to the Equator have high temperature while the temperature falls down as we go near to North or South poles.

2. RAINFALL:
The average annual rain fall of a region plays also very important and decisive role in the determination of the climate of that place.
